No. 11 Canadian Field Ambulance Organized at Edmonton and Winnipeg in March 1916 under the command of Lieutenant-Colonel J. D. McQueen.
Authorization published in General Order 69 of 15 July 1916. “The mobilization was under the control of a committee of civilians”, composed of the presidents of UBC, U of Alberta, U of Saskatchewan and U of Manitoba. Left Halifax 22 May 1916 aboard ADRIATIC. Arrived in England 29 May 1916. Strength: 10 Officers, 179 other ranks. Arrived in France 11 August 1916. 4th Canadian Division.

Demobilized at Toronto in May 1919. Disbanded by General Order 211 of 15 November 1920. Drum and fife band organized in June 1917 at Chateau-de-la-Haie but was disbanded in October 1917 owing to so many casualties among its members. Bugle band organized in April 1918. Published “M&D” as often as the exigencies of the service permit” (July and November 1917).
